Sid may be the best player of the last 15 years, but he hasn't been the best player for all of the last 15 years.
Doesn't matter, tier 1.

Hmph, yeah, Clarke should have been there...oversight by me...I like how you omitted Bobby Clark from your top of the head list Kick St Louis and insert him
I think Francis career value for a franchise is tremendous. He was very good for a looong time and I love his play. But his peak limits him a bit so it is hard to place him.
Is he comparable to Bergeron? Perhaps not as good peak.
Yes, your last line is accurate. Francis is probably between Bergeron and Kopitar on an all time scale...

Crosby hasn't been the best player in the league for the last three years or so at least...McDavid had to have taken that mantle at some point...
Crosby, for me, is more or less the top of the head for a good dozen. Which, according to ulf, is 205% of the timeframe in question...
EDIT: Phone autocorrected heap to head in that last line.

I thought about Kopitar and reasoned that him and Francis probably had the same peak. But Francis had a larger career value...
Lol at 205 percent.
The case for Crosby Vs Lafleur is a bit interesting. Crosby has quite little hardware, but is probably the best player since the lockout.
Edit. Nevermind. Lafleur had less hardware than I thought when I double checked

Bergeron... Love the player, one of my favorites ever. Similar to Francis - grittier but not as prolific as a playmaker.
But only topped 70 points 3x, never topped 80. Only exceeded a point per game one time. Not sure how that puts him above ronny.

Are they going to have Malkin top 40 or leave him off completely? I'm honestly shocked he hasn't shown up yet.

Francis spent most of his career in a much higher scoring era.But only topped 70 points 3x, never topped 80. Only exceeded a point per game one time. Not sure how that puts him above ronny.
1982 to 1991 scoring - Francis was 12th in points. 19th in pts/gm. Behind Goulet, Bernie Nicholls, etc.
Not to knock Francis's scoring prowess...obviously he's an all time point accumulator...but the scoring environments are different enough where the gap between the two shrinks offensively and Bergeron was better defensively to such a degree that it covers the difference...

Jarry did his best CDS impression on Staal's game tying goal last night. **** is probably still looking at the wrong side of the post right now.

the amount of disrespect he gets from the canadian media is bafflingAre they going to have Malkin top 40 or leave him off completely? I'm honestly shocked he hasn't shown up yet.
couple days ago stellck et al were on and on about ovi/800 goals etc and talking about the many great players of 'this generation' ovi, sid, bergeron,..stamkos, no mention of malkin. this happens a lot and i just shake my head
you also get 'when he's on he's really on but when he's not 'on' the implication is he willfully disappears
so theyre comfortable turbocharging that well worn trope
jfc 'the guy has avgd 1.2 points a game (or whatever) for the whole of his career, what more do you want

Geno got booed last night at the game and I never thought I'd see that. It wasn't even during the OT gaff, but earlier in the game on a lazy d-zone turnover.

I was listening to a "would you rather" debate about Bergeron vs Malkin and they unanimously answered Bergeron. Like... come on. Do less
