One would hope if Malkin leaving does happen that Hextall/Burke have some sort of plan to fill that spot.

I guarantee they outlined this to the new ownership group in Hextalls plan for the team. I bet he said he’ll offer geno this much but if he doesn’t agree they move on

FSG group more than likely has signed off on this.

Getting the feeling more and more that neither Hextall nor Burke really wanted to keep Malkin around in the first place, and all this negotiation has been theater. So now you'll see leaks of "Well we finally offered what he wanted and he went to FA so *shrug*" to try and paint Geno's camp as the baddies.
I doubt they'd be employed if they didn't do everything they could to keep him

Geno is gone imo. Which is a shame. Seems he is just a butthurt baby after this if reports are true he was offered 4 years around 6m.

None of the reports are true and no he isn't.

This is sports. He might leave. No doubt in my mind he can get 4x7.5 on the market.

The max they offered him to stay wasn't enough to get him to sign... he values himself at a level above that.

Decourcy is doubling down on 4 years 6.1m. If geno didn't accept that, and is butthurt enough to go to fa, he isn't signing with the pens imo. Time will tell though.

Imo pens only pull back.

The Pittsburgh media seems to not have any insiders...and then, to make things worse, there are folks who just straight up make **** up...it's really crazy. I'm glad I'm not subject to these clowns in any real capacity...

Anyhow, we'll see how it all plays out...there's no obvious reason to trash either side; hell, there's not even a reason to "take" a side here I don't think...

Yeah. I don't think any side is wrong. I'm probably more frustrated this didn't get done. And I just have a tough time seeing it get done because I don't think malkin is happy with what was offered, and the pens probably gave their best proposal and will only move forward with other free agents.

I know you can't keep the band together forever. But I really thought malkin would get done. I'd love to have him and maf finish their careers as penguins. It's just not reality.
