When do we tank for the next generational talent?

It's like a 20 year cycle right

Mario 86. Sid rookie year 05-06. Draft the next chosen one 25-26

i think that means we're scheduled for back to back cups in like 2035-2036 too

We tanked for Mario in '83, got him in '84...

Next question: can I still pass for a college kid and get those beautiful student rush tickets during the dark ages like last time?

close enough

Hmmm...
Letang 5x9
Malkin 5x7
Rakell 5x5
Heinen 3x2
Kapanen retained 3x3.2 because I hate losing an asset for free
Boyle 1x0.75 - can split the work load with Carter so the later is fresh for the playoffs
Trade Pettersson for a bag of pucks
5 million? left for a backup goalie and a #5 D.

Boyle tore his knee up again I think...his career is over I presume...
I would do all of that though, probably...

Boyle just had knee surgery yesterday and looked dog tired in the playoffs. It might be time to call it a career.

I would give malkin 5 x 7 if he’s cool with LTIRing it Kucherov style for the last 3 years of his deal

Don't forget to factor in the Fleury money.

I don't see how they would fit him under and cap and I don't see him playing for 2mm. Maybe in the last year of Sid's contract.Don't forget to factor in the Fleury money.

Aspiring for LTIR isn't the way to go...especially if that ends up being a 35+ contract...it's all fun and games midseason when it happens, but it's not a good look prior to day one...

Fleury is quite old, so I think he could retire quite soon, and hopefully play for 2 million here for his last seasonI don't see how they would fit him under and cap and I don't see him playing for 2mm. Maybe in the last year of Sid's contract.Don't forget to factor in the Fleury money.

Isn't this a better image of Fleury's final moment in a Pens jersey?

My video game move would also be to play our rookies until the last cuts from the other teams are made. It could be a chance to claim a young D and F. I think it could be fruitful even if the players have been waived by the deepest teams in the league.

Re Fluery: True. It was a fitting end for his career here. But he could still contribute...

GMBG said today he's going to try and re-sign MAF.
I ain't giving Geno 5x7. I'll settle at 3x6, and have him finish w/Sid's deal. I'll overpay on Letang, sure.

Idk, if a player is on waivers, generally it means they aren't good, with very few exceptions.
Also, what rookies?
