This is pretty big news, bigger than the Pittsburgh Media thread.

Seth is closing down Empty Netters. No reason given.

Meh. The guy who ran it was becoming increasingly insufferable over the years.

I guess the PG couldn't afford the band with cost of all of those videos.

Yeah I don't remember exactly what he said, but a few years ago I quit following him and reading his stuff. Haven't really missed it

Stinks, but time goes on. He became the guy that retweeted everything Yohe et all would tweet. There are so many reporters covering hockey now that they're all starting to say the same thing.

He also states in the article:
Empty Netters has been discontinued.
Looks to me like the sole reason of it happening was that PG wanted it to stop. I wonder if it coincides with Jason Mackey becoming the Pens beat writer, as today was his first day at PG.

Blog was a great gathering of resources & info, as was his twitter. Following him meant I didn't need to follow 30+ beat reporters around the NHL. I really liked his humor too.

Guess DK's really gonna be my main source of Pens info from now on.

Seth was one of the few who seemed willing to actively engage the base in discussion. Sad to see it discontinued.

This. Getting as bad as the Steelers beat.

I for one will miss it. I think that DK's team made reference to its cancelation and was sad to see it go, which says something.

I agree. EN was my go-to Twitter feed during the season.

I quite enjoyed Empty Netters. I didn't go there for breaking news, but I enjoyed reading his game blogs following a big win. I especially liked the Jersey Hunt section.
