Pittsburgh trades Beau Bennett to NJ for a 3rd (#77)
A big year for Beau would be staying healthy for more than 10 games at a time and putting up like 15 points or so.
I do wish the guy well though. He always seemed like a good dude.

It always seemed to me that he loved being part of the Pens organization, which made his inability to stay on the ice that much more frustrating to him.Molinari says Beau declined to be interviewed about the trade.
#Beauxit
I'm kinda sad. I liked him a lot.

that doesn't give the entire context of how long he was out at times.
it's not just weeks but months at a time.

Another thing about Beau is that while he will soon be 25, his actual playing experience is equivalent to that of a 21 year old or so. That's a lot of developmental time that he's missed out on. How do you make up for that?

He missed the bulk of his sophomore season with a ruptured tendon in his wrist injuryIf I recall correctly, he had a bad shoulder when they drafted him.

Player not good enough to be a Penguin traded for by GM not good enough to be a Penguin.
That tied itself up in a neat little bow.

I'm also glad this is over. Hockey life spent walking a black cat under a ladder in a graveyard; Nice guy; best of luck.

I really felt bad for the dude when he spoke to the press pondering his career during his last injury. He really could be a top 6 forward if he's able to stay healthy.

Totally see him scoring 20 with 30 assists.
He'll be a good nhl second liner somewhere somday.

It's all about sacrifice, and Bennett sacrificed his roster spot to somebody who stepped up.

He's always had a sense of humor. I missed this from after the parade (he retweeted it):

Welp, had to figure this was coming. I don't think Sully saw a spot for him on the roster, even if he was healthy.

I wish him the best and hope he can stay healthy. I've had teammates in beer league be just as injury plagued as Bennett is. I'm not talking about 45 year old fat guys either. I'm talking about guys in their 20's playing non-check hockey that played decent level travel hockey as teenagers. it seems like their shoulders just dislocate at the slightest contact. crazy.

Yeah, I don't think it's a "toughness" thing at all... people are built differently, ligaments stretch differently, areas of the body for some people can take far more punishment than they can for other people. Yea, hopefully Beau can get it all together with another team. A fresh start looks to be like it's totally needed.

A new body would be helpful. Good luck, BB.
