i dont think they changed it for swear word reasons so much as for the lulz in that instance and only this instance

Google Adsense. Which I don't buy, since non-filtered forums have no issue with growth. That law forum I mentioned has 125,246 members.

The best argument I can think of is it helps not getting flagged in content filtering services like Websense or Blue Coat, but we have a weed, beer, hard liquor, and gaming threads so I that doesn't really hold water either.

I think it's just good old-fashioned Catholic-style repression.

I think most of it is done for the lulz. The original board message was to keep it within reason, and I don't think it's been nearly as bad as it was on LGP.

Changing words for funsies - asking to keep it family friendly (to a degree) - isn't Google China. Hell I could breathe and get a warning there. I think all told we've maybe had a few conversations over PM with people tell them to chill out? That's about it.

I feel like the further we get from being on LGP, people assume that this is now the most moderated board between the two, and I think that's likely the case - because for awhile they had no mods present, and came back and went total clown shoes. We never left, and it's been a pretty simple rule-set; keep it within reason, and don't go overboard (the personal insulting is the largest offense that happens here, imo).

For the record, I fully endorse swearing. I personally don't care about anything offensive either, but the rule was to keep it within reason.

It's also not for adsense. We just wanted a place that we could chill, and grow the community. I think it's pretty hard to deny that NHR on the old board reeked of exclusivity, and that's not the objective here.

You have to be a real turd to get banned here, imo. Believe me, we've already seen some real turds.
