This isn't the first time he's been in hot water with drug-related stuff. He was caught back during the 99-00 season with hookers and cocaine and had to enter the NHL Substance Abuse Program.

My favorite Pen. Hopefully he'll be able to get his dependency in check before it's too late.

My only game-weight jersey was a #25 I picked up between Cups. He's a Pens' all-timer, imo. So sad.

Damn it Artie.
Same. Loved the guy. Still do, and I hope he gets help.

I'll never forget how devastated I was for him that awful night 23 years ago.

Sigh, Artie. Thought you finally had your life together. What a shame.

Damn that was tough to read. Every aspect of his life is a mess. I had always wondered why Stevens left his position as a scout. Guess the failed intervention was the final straw. For his sake and the sake of his family I hope he's able to find the help he needs.

I've worked in recovery as a counselor for 16 years, dating back to my early 20's when I lost my best friend to addiction/suicide. I've done hundreds, maybe thousands, of drug/alcohol interventions as well as suicide prevention interventions through the years. It's a living hell what these people go through, and its even worse for their families. I wish Artie all the best - it's a shame it has come to this. Life is way to short to take what you have for granted. I hope that, by some miracle, Artie can find the strength to overcome this.
