I agree, mikey. I've got to think that, after getting Zatkoff into the game in the first, we see things open up a little here in the second.

...and now Raata is in net. Wow.

Even with the shots against, there wasn't a bundle of A+ chances against...I mean, that's the focus...people will call it "not playing" or "no effort" or whatever noise...but you got a guy that's of questionable NHL ability in net, in a big spot, you gotta insulate him...get him comfortable, let him get some shots from poor angles, box out, get rebounds out...

Not saying we played a golden period by any means...but it wasn't all doom and gloom...you gotta play a little different when you're not sure of what's behind you...the last thing you want is for that first shot to go in, or that first rebound to go in and next thing ya know, if you have a goalie - who was scratched for a 21 year old or whatever for like 10 weeks now - thinking maybe he doesn't belong. Then you're in the toilet three goals in 24 minutes and who can you turn to? The guy that has never had an NHL puck hit him?

As the comfort with Zatkoff grows, the play will get pushed a little further. Everyone takes a deep breath and goes, "ok, this is fine." Pens are playing and leading, Zatkoff keeping pucks out, defense doing well in their own area, good fundamental play for the most part, walling, boxing out properly...things are ok...

I'm not sure that he got called for that. I honestly think he got called for diving when Girardi (?) gave him a little shove in the back and he flopped...but I don't know...
