Reasonable, considering he looked like mud the first couple games after returning from the first one.I'm a little worried about Fleury coming in cold.

I thought he looked good (against the Isles). 38 saves on 40 shots, .950 %, and a 5-2 win.I don't recall this... what did his stats look like coming back?Reasonable, considering he looked like mud the first couple games after returning from the first one.I'm a little worried about Fleury coming in cold.

I guess I'm misremembering. I recalled him having way more stinkers post-concussion than he had before.

He definitely had a few (Calgary being the most notable, IMO), but I'm not terribly worried about him coming in cold. Hell, it's basically the same scenario for Zatkoff, who I wouldn't trust even if he was coming off of playing 20 straight.

Indeed indeed. I guess ideally we'd have a healthy Murray, but uh...

At least it looks like he's soooooo close to coming back. Might just be one game without him. We'll see.

Hopefully, this is more of a "Fleury isn't 100% yet, so we're taking our time" thing rather than a "Fleury had a setback/failed the concussion protocol" thing. Who the hell knows with Murray, since we have zero updates on him. Even if he was ready to return to practice, he's probably still a week away from being able to think about starting.

The fact that JZ knew the night before he was starting feels worse to me for some reason. But then Fleury was having pucks shot at him in practice so I highly doubt he was just out there as a feint to fool the Rangers. Really weird situation.
Conspiracy theory is maybe he's 95% ready to go and could have been the back-up, but they didn't think the team would get fully behind JZ if Fleury was there so they sat him. Looking down the bench and seeing some junior high kid that they stuck in Jarry's jersey probably makes JZ look pretty appealing. That's evil genius stuff, though, and would have had to have come from the folks that thought it was a good idea to start Murray against Philly so there is probably nothing to it.

Fleury saves the season
Bit of "news" from Fleury (via Yohe, paywall):
More in the article, but being respectful to DK & his main source of income.Fleury was asked if he decided not to play, or if doctors told him not to play in Game 1.
“I guess a little bit of both,” he said. “We talked. I just was not right to play yet. That’s the reason why I didn’t play.”
He claims he didn’t have any setbacks this week during or after his workouts.
“No, no,” he said. “That’s actually good, to get some exercise. Get some movement. I’ve got to watch what I say. It was good.”

Who cares. We have Zakoff and his 946 save percentage.
