I'd imagine it was that hit that he winced at with either a shoulder or elbow injury. He played after that though, so who know.

I thought it was his hand that got stuck between a body and the boards.

On the bright side, he might be able to play 1B for the Pirates.

Left hand or wrist it would appear from the video.
Since 09-10, malkin has missed 138 games. Crosby? Only 122.

And people complain about Bennett (who makes about five dollars a season).

Crosby and Malkin have played more than 50% of their possible games, though.

I got my rant out of my system at LGP.
You're welcome.

If that makes you feel better about their future, go for it.

I wonder who makes more per minute of ice time played.Crosby and Malkin have played more than 50% of their possible games, though.

Crosby has only missed 20 games since he came back from his concussion, starting at the 2012-2013 season. The vast majority of those games were missed in bulk due to the concussion/neck meat thing. 12 of those 20 I mentioned were from getting hit in the face with a deflected puck. 4-5 of them were due to mumps.
I'm not really that worried. But I'm not really sure why you brought up Bennett to begin with.

Because people spend an inordinate amount of time making fun of meaningless player missing games and the injuries of the workhorses actually matter.

At this point it might not be betrayal to hope they miss the PO's and that it results in Rutherford's termination. Then hire someone competent enough to trade Malkin.
But...hockey is a funny funny game. I wouldn't be surprised if they make the PO's and win a round. But in my heart of hearts I don't think that's likely

The Pens are great at getting seriously injured on innocent-looking plays. Uncanny.

Geno's played in 217 games the last 4 years. Crosby has played in 259 games. Bennett's played in 122 games.

I'd like to see their point/minute/dollar stats.

As I was watching the game last night, I was texting with a co-worker who's also a Pens fan and he said that it didn't look good what happened with Geno. I said, well, we just got Fehr and Hagelin back in the lineup, so we were due for another injury to someone. I wasn't saying it as a joke, it just seems like it's expected, especially at this time of the year. I've gone from upset (back in 2011) to just resigned to it now. This franchise's window was severely dented when it lost 2 prime years of Crosby because of the concussion and now just when you thought there might be a run in these guys, this happens. So now I guess it's time for Kessel to finally earn his stripes.

That won't be happening.

The absolutely terrible luck this team has had with injuries is enough to make me vomit. Like Gaucho said, talk about a completely benign looking play, and then this happens. Congrats in advance to the Flyers for backing into a playoff spot. Yes I am feeling irrational now...my thoughts (NSFW)

lol this team is cursed.
When was the last time Kane, Toews, Keith, Kopitar, Ovechkin got hurt and missed 6+ weeks?
i'm just done.

Honestly I wonder if they are best off re-buulding/tooling around Sid.
Geno reminds me of Foppa (Forsberg), great player but just always banged up.
Since the 2011-2012 Geno has not had 30 goals and routintely misses dozens of games.
The Pens are a 4-8 seed at best with a healthy Geno and Sid firing on all cylinders, much less the reality of Geno being hurt.
Given the cap, farm system, I would hope they would think if they are better off and more likely to be a cup contender with Geno and Sid or without Geno.

Earlier this season it was trade Sid and build around Geno.
