Fitting title...Bob Cole calling this one on Sportsnet. I watch a ton of hockey, and prefer Canadian networks too, this is the first game this year that I've heard Bob Cole call...I know he's not the top pairing any more...but I forgot that he was still kicking...
Pens should murder these losers...Joni Ortio has like zero career wins but many more games played...6-1 Pens...

This thing has had a weird start, with an oddly timed game with an odd opponent...you gotta make sure you don't get sucked into their style of play...you have to control the pace, make them play your game...Calgary wants a track meet...they want to run up and down the floor...you don't want to get into that...we're in a stretch in a crucial time where we play like 9 games in 72 hours or something...can't be chasing a game like this around...

Crosby sure is scoring some creative goals lately.

Wilson-Bonino-Rust with some good looks there as the Flames forwards were demonstrating exactly how not to play in-zone defense...

Some of the passes Malkin makes in the NZ are just unreal...I don't even think of them as options and I have the bird's eye view...
Fleury with a monster pokecheck on the 2 on 0...
Pens would be right to continue to pinch, the spacing between the Flames d-men and forwards is kind of like ours under Bylsma at the end, like that 2013 ECF vs. Boston...all you have to do is step in front of an 85 foot pass to keep the puck in the zone for another 30 seconds at least...happened a half dozen times in the first half of the first period already...

Hagelin would be dead if he didn't bail on that open ice hit
Atlanta Flames @ Pittsburgh Penguins
I've never actually been there, but has the ice at CEC improved this year?

Ice got him. Hate that type of hit, but understand why players go for it.

Hagelin's head smashed pretty good on the ice, hopefully he just needs stitches.

Seems like it has anecdotally...but I've never played on it. Seems to hold up better later in periods...and I don't hear anyone complaining about it...so let's go with "probably"...I've never actually been there, but has the ice at CEC improved this year?

Hey, no mention of charity backpacks in this game. What gives?
Atlanta Flames @ Pittsburgh Penguins
I just reminded myself of the last time I saw the Pens in Pittsburgh: afternoon game against Tampa. We sat in Section C under the overhang. Pens lost, but free tickets. 1996?

SportsNet's coverage continues to be pretty ghetto.
