Coyotes acquire Plotnikov from Penguins

The Arizona Coyotes have acquired forward Sergei Plotnikov from the Pittsburgh Penguins on Monday for a conditional seventh round pick (2017) and Matthias Plachta.

The 25-year-old rookie has two assists in 32 games for the Penguins this season.
Plotnikov was signed by the Penguins to a one-year entry-level contract as an undrafted free agent last summer.

As I said in the other thread: Plachta, I think, was the Coyotes' last cut in training camp. Has some size and good work ethic, but no skills.

Fixing the fix: It IS Plachta, not Piachta. Quite possibly the last time you'll see it spelled either way.

Plachta is in the AHL and came over after a good year in Germany (his team was led in scoring by Glen Metropolit, that should tell you all you need to know)...Plotnikov had some weird deal WRT to going down, don't recall the details...but basically the AHL wasn't really an option...

EDIT: Also thought that Plachta made a lot more "sense" than Piachta...seemed like an unlikely combination of letters...
