this team sucks, and it will not win a cup within the next 5+ years.

the window has indeed shut. they could not compete with the CHI or LA dynasties, and it's pretty embarrassing, especially with mario lemieux, the best hockey player ever, as the team's owner.

Was at the game tonight. 55 minutes of suck, and about 8 glorious minutes of dominance. being able to walk out into the Florida rain with a smile on my face chanting Lets Go Pens! with my fellow transplants was incredible. :)

Daley's protection of the puck on that OT goal was quality.

I hate Florida.
Yeah, these Florida road trips are fun, aren't they?
Florida is so much more trouble than it's worth. Choose your context--any context. Just a royal PITA, and if it fell into the ocean, I wouldn't miss it or the Onion articles it inspires.
Can I at least get off the 'island' before it floats into the Caribbean? :D

Read in a couple places that Letang & Crosby are currently #1 & #2 in points per game in the NHL. (Well, after McDavid... but he's played in 2 games. :P )

Something something Johnston something something offense.

Edit: 2nd interesting stat...

I know, right...they just beat the "hottest team in the NHL" on their home ice, with 3 centers injured (including one of the top 3 centers in the world), and their 3rd best goalie in net, on the second night of back-to-back games.

Wow, they really suck.

That call Letang drew in overtime happens 30x a game...very weak. I'll take it though. Great comeback, despite all the Smurfs in the lineup.

I don't know. It negated a grade A scoring chance.

After his escape move, it looked like he was going to go high to Kessel. I said "no, no, no" out loud, hoping he'd be patient and let the killers sag back into their triangle. Then he threw that beauty down to Sid.

That has to be over a recent time period because Kane 1.36 points per game and Sid has 49 in 50. The other stat is surprising.

I was thinking the Colby Armstrong OT Winner in 2007 but the deficit was erased sooner than 6 minutes to go - two power play goals in the first 7 mins of the 3rd.

(That was the game where Crosby and Malkin were stuck waiting for a whistle after equipment issues and never got one..)

Goldstein and Potvin basically said it was legit and that Jokinen had no choice but to take the penalty. Jokinen was already skating to the box before the arm was all the way up.

Reading on Twitter that the Panthers' mascot was shown on the jumbotron, the game 2-1, blowing his nose in and defiling the Terrible Towel. And then...

I didn't watch the game live, but it looked like something that happens a lot without getting called. Kudos to the ref for having the stones to call that in overtime though. I wished they called that kind of thing more often.

I was at the game, and I could see that play developing before OT even started. As they got ready to take the faceoff, Letang just kept drifting over to the RW boards. I could see the way Crosby was setup on the faceoff, he was going to try to smack the puck to Letang at the boards. I was a little shocked Florida didn't cover Letang better.

The penalty was definitely legit. Jokinen got enough of his hands/arm to alter the shot that he had on net.

Yes! that story is quite true. not only blowing the nose but poking it up his kitty cat nostril. :face:
