Can someone confirm that Geno has now been scoreless in 12 straight games? Someone, somewhere, mentioned it.

Yes, no points in two this year; no points in the 5-game loss to New York; no points in the last five of the regular season...he had two assists vs. Arizona on 3/28...3 points in 17 games since 3/7/15...

edog was right...

I need to find that guy and appologize. Is he more likely to be in an impatient mental facility or substance abuse facility?

maybe instead of a good regular season team and a bad playoff team we're turning into a bad regular season team and a good playoff team, ala the LA Kings

or maybe we just suck

I like how there's a fire Johnston thread within 2 games.

Maybe we are worse than LGP (or maybe it's just Godric)
Hlinka made it 4 games into his second season before getting canned. It's not unprecedented.
Well, it's not really 2 games. Has there been improvement since last December? I can attribute some of the problems to injuries we had, but come on. If you can't get Sid and Geno and Letang and Horny and now Kessel to KILL on the PP, you're not doing it right.
The problem is telling Crosby and Malkin to stop doing what THEY want to do and do what the coach tells them to do.

The question is: Is there a coach that Crosby and Malkin would actually listen to? A second question is: Would the Pens actually sign a coach that would try?

Mike Babcock. But the Pens couldn't keep Bylsma for another year to wait for Babcock to finish his contract.

There's a fine balance with star players and coaches...but is there any indication that Crosby and Malkin are these coaching scofflaws...? Since HCMJ has been here, Malkin has played the best defensive hockey of his career...Crosby seems very coachable for a star player and in my travels around the league (in terms of conversation), I've not heard anything of note about him being uncoachable or anything...

Mike Babcock wouldn't turn things around immediately. I don't know why people think that.

The fact that nobody cared to point out that I posted in the completely wrong thread saddens me.

I'm just over the entire system. Dating back to the end of last year - the other teams figured the system out, and the Pens are still getting punished for it.

That all being said - next guy up would be Tocchet and he can't even figure out the PP, so outside of voice, I can't imagine he'll be any better.

I'm not jumping on the "Fire HCMJ" bandwagon yet.

Mike Darney made a lot of points on Twitter this AM that I actually was thinking about.

The defense is suspect, the team has had player turnover, incoming players learning the system, Maatta needs to get back to where he was before his shoulder issues, perhaps Cole is being expected to do too much...

However, if we are 10-15 games in and the team is continuing to trend downward, then it may be time to shake things up.

The player turnover element is dubious considering how our bottom 6 has looked pretty decent, and that's where the new guys live. Also, the other new guy from Toronto looks like a stud.

In a nutshell, our 2nd line is a bowl of nothing, our defense is full of guys who aren't good and aren't expected to be good, and our coach doesn't know who to put on the ice at any given moment.

That much we know. And then you add this theory about his system and things get really scary.

most of the new guys (Kessel, Bonino, Sprong, Cullen, Porter) have looked solid for far. Crosby has no excuse

I'm getting tired of seeing the guys getting paid a ton of money produce like they're being paid 4-5mm.
