Know nothing of the BUF side of things. But the Bylsma hire as it relates to draft picks has been put to bed as far as Pens are concerned.

Either Freidmann or Dreger is reporting the Pens get a 3rd round pick as compensation.

Big whoop. If that's all they get, the Sabres should be forced to take Scuderi.

John Hynes first NHL head coaching contract believed to be a 3 yr deal, plus team option for 4th. Good hire by Devils. Good coach.

This time it makes sense though. Hynes was still under contract. The Pens would rather have him than not. A compensation pick makes sense here.

Agreed. This is the situation the rule was made for, not for hiring fired employees, but that's on the league there.

I agree that it's the situation the rule was made for, but I really don't think it should apply to coaches getting promoted from the AHL.
