Is that right? Weren’t they technically out of the playoffs on the last day during the Johnston era? They needed to beat Buffalo to get in?

Maybe I need another coffee.
Hm, good point. I think you're right.

Looks like they needed to beat Buffalo to clinch, but were never on the outside looking in.

I think they were in 7th or 8th, but needed the win to clinch iirc.

So should we go ahead and pencil in that L?

DeSmith seems to be passable when he has a guy behind him that can push him.

Or he got his contract and now he’s checked out.

Am I imagining things or did we go from a team with maybe the best/most active sticks in the league to a bottom half team?

“Casey DeSmith” is extremely not quiet in net. That guy has way too much going on.

Meh, he's on that shortlist...but he's not gonna win it regardless...Mark Giordano is having a whale of a year. Though, Letang on a national stage having the game that he had, is helpful...

The Penguins can't really press too hard on the Letang for Norris campaign, because they are pushing to get Crosby a Selke...tough to double-dip when they're both tough sells for a win...

That Crosby has never won a Selke is incredible to me.

The fact that he's been top-10 in voting as many times as he has is incredible to me...very undeserved. He's a Selke-caliber player in the playoffs, definitely not in the regular season. This year, completely different though...he deserves votes this season for sure...probably won't beat Ryan O'Reilly and some others...but this is the first time he's been deserving...

up until recently Crosby rarely played on the PK. hard to win a defensive forward award if you don't kill penalties.....

You can also put Morgan Rielly on the short list for the Norris ahead of Letang, not because he's better but because he plays in Toronto.

Petterson has scored two goals in his last six games.

Sprong hasn't scored February 2nd and has gone pointless in his last six. His minutes have been declining over the last week, going from averaging 15 minutes per game to playing 8:59 on Friday against Boston (his lowest since joining the Ducks.)
He spent Sunday's game watching from the press box.

Essential to the press box quota.
