I had the same conversation with a friend. The answer is...maybe. Which is what should have been considered from the beginning, not committing a career to a rookie. The current situation shouldn't be a surprise to anyone but it seems to be. My buddy summed it up pretty well: "Good, but not elite." Which is fair.

I honestly don’t even care what happens with him at this point. He has a terrific shot, but that means nothing if he can’t do anything to get/keep the puck or make sure he’s in the right position.

If trading him serves as a wake up call, then so be it. He could very well just be the next Yakupov. All talent, no work ethic or sense.

The same coach and gm that thought bringing in JMFJ was a good idea. Let's not act like they're infallible. What I want is him to get a shot playing with a capable playmaking center for more than 2 shifts.
