Mike Colligan votes Malkin.
What I like about Malkin is his underrated ability to put a long stretch pass onto the stick of a streaking winger.

Malkin and Kessel also play an instinctual style as opposed to the precise, tactical approach of Crosby. Much like Mario Lemieux, Malkin and Kessel know exactly when to take off up the ice before hockey fans (and most opponents) even realize there’s a breakaway opportunity. They react to the game as it unfolds, which can be a nightmare for linemates who don’t have the same mindset.

... James Neal also has a deadly shot and scored at a 40-goal pace for most of his time in Pittsburgh alongside Malkin. Neal was able to find soft spots in defensive coverage (as Malkin commanded the attention of opponents) and then used his quick release to convert scoring chances.
Good article, btw, though I disagree with his conclusion about the Kessel trade.

I said Malkin, but - barring injury - we know how this will turn out.

I didn't read the question and assumed it was just who will center Kessel, not who should center Kessel. I voted Crosby mostly because I figured that's who he will play with, but I really like Hornqvuist on Crosby's wing and think Kessel should be with Malkin.

Yeah. Top-6 to start should be:

Perron-Crosby-Hornqvist
Plotnikov-Malkin-Kessel

Will it though? I dunno, probably not :P

Maybe they don't want Sutter to carry the puck any more...?

It was me. I didn't want this survey to hurt Sutter's self esteem. :)

I said Malkin because he creates offense organically, much like Kessel. Crosby manufactures offense, but what he really needs is a puck hound and Phil is not that.

Probably, but while this was a certainty with the old regime, the current brain trust is a little more open minded. Sloppier with personnel, yes. But more open minded.

But yeah...geno all the way.
