Overpaid for dumo, underpaid for sheary in my book. At the end of the day, I'm happy with the overall cap hit.

12.6 for Schultz, Dumo, and Sheary for the next 3 years, not too bad.

Awesome.

Potential line-up at this point?

Hornqvist-Malkin-Kessel
Hagelin- X - Rust
Wilson - Rowney - Reaves

Maatta - Letang
Cole - Schultz
Dumo - Hunwick

That's a great deal. Sure, Crosby inflated his numbers, but guess what? If you can lock down a winger for several seasons that complements Sid's playing style, you do it in a heartbeat. They bring out the best in each other.

Hmph, ok...no strong issue with this. Not overly expensive, not long term. Considerably less than what what he would have gotten for a one year arbitration deal...

Didn't Sheary lead the league in P/60 this year?

Edit: meant team. But yes, just the fact that he led the team shows his value.

I like deal. $3.28mm left for third line center and/or Matt Cullen.

I hope it has no trade restrictions. Not a Sheary fan and I don't want to see other young players blocked because of him. He's a different kind of player but this reminds me of TKs contract when he proved later to not be a reliable scorer but they were stuck with him for several years after signing. At least TK had some usefulness other than the first line which Sheary doesn't seem to have.

I don't see any similarities between TK and Sheary, with all due respect. I doubt a player of this caliber on this type of deal would get any trade restrictions...moreover, you can't have trade restrictions during what would be RFA years...

Did not know about the trade resrtictions/RFA years. They are not similar players but the contract Sheary signed was due to his scoring on the top line. I believe they signed TK to a (3.7 mil?) contract because the Pens though he'd be a consistent top 6 scorer which wasn't the case at all. I'm not confident that Sheary will consistently score either. I don't have the numbers but it seemed to me that once Guentzel began with the big team he was productive and Sheary's productivity declined.

After Kennedy re-signed, he had arguably his best season (injuries to him and staal undercut how effective they both were). It was only the following year (his final year) where he underperformed. And it was at the cost of a whopping 2 mill.

I sure hope sheary screws us over the same way.

Eesh...and once guentzel came on big, sheary was along for the ride. Everyone on that line was prospering. It wasn't until the playoffs when sheary laid down the poo poo platter. But by the finals, he was almost back to his full powers. Maybe being concussed was part of it?

As I continue to talk to myself, I'm wondering what is the worst contract we were stuck with either for its duration or close to it? In the Crosby era anyways.

We all would have said Kunitz but then he went all hero mode. So im stumped. Are there none?

Maybe the 2 year deal adams got at basically league minimum.
