Not to be a pain in the butt, Rocco, but da Vinci didn't name the Mona Lisa the Mona Lisa - that came later. Whistler didn't give his painting "Whistler's Mother" that title, either.

Look at it this way, Red Smith didn't write his own titles, either. So you're in good company.

Based on our observations, Johnston had not lost the attention of the players. They were attentive to his instructions and respected him. During Dan Bylsma's final season as head coach in 2013-14, veterans would skip off-ice meetings. We saw little evidence of any players doing that under Johnston.

Based on the media quotes from the past day or so, this is sounding like a serious warning shot to the players more than anything else.

Lovejoy: "We had a meeting this morning where both Jim Rutherford and Mike Sullivan spoke. They both said this to us. We need to be better as players."

Sullivan: "I'm a firm believer that players have to take ownership of the team."

Coach Sullivan: "There was a reason we worked on coming out of our end zone today. That will be a point of emphasis."
