I liked Mears because he called it pretty straight. He didn't seem to have any desire to become a caricature of himself (see: Emrick). That's different than enjoying him.
Guy was a 40 degree day.
Yea, he was more bland than white bread, especially compared to Mike Lange. Heck, even Steigy had more personality.

Maybe we'll luck into some whole wheat bread next

I mentioned we go to church with Steve Mears' grandma-in-law. His wife is super nice, we met her last year, her parents live on the other side of the cul de sac. I feel bad for the human element of it, but I get it's a business decision and not surprised with Fenway taking over. Just a bummer because they both seem like great guys.

I was surprised at how popular Potash is on Reddit and Facebook. It’s no wonder they kept him around. People **** love that dork. The opinion of him on this board is definitely unpopular.

This is exactly how I feel about him. I’m happy he’s still on the broadcast, especially if it upsets some of the uptight here. Win/win.

Mears is a collegiate pbp voice. Errey is annoying but also a shill. Probably a job requirement. Either way I'm glad to see both go

Errey was at least good for some laughs. Mears was vanilla. My main beef with him was him forcing excitement into situations where he didn’t need to. His goal calls all seemed disingenuous.

OP already said it's not going to be Getzoff, but I would be happy if it was.
Yohe just said Getzoff is replacing Mears, and it's unknown what Bourque will be doing (TV/Radio).
Maybe Yohe has the ear of the person making the hiring (or Getzoff himself). My source is getting hired for a different role within the coverage and they gave me a name of someone who was in the negotiating phase for pxp and that person was a TV guy with his previous team.

Please tell me it’s Alex Faust. I really like Getzoff, but I’d take Faust over him on TV.
