A picture of a player who is least likely to remember the 2000's...?

He could also be the only player on the roster born in the 2000s?

(Without looking/double-checking myself)

Could be it. Closest one to 2K - he was born in 1999.

I understand wanting to use the RR for a theme night but that jersey and primary logo was out by 2002. So the majority of the 2000s it's the skating penguin, albeit in vegas gold then reebok edge tan.

I'm kind of shocked they haven't used the Vegas gold more for a retro Jersey. I remember that one Winter Classic one I think that was white with the gold, but given Sid started with it, I figured they'd use it.

The first vegas gold alt was amazing. I wasn't as big of a fan when it moved to the full time jersey but seeing Jagr and eventually Lemieux in that jersey was cool as hell.

How to you jersey completionist guys afford to buy every new release? I have that Penguins jersey book they made a few years ago and it's woefully out of date already.

You should know this already. Just don't have kids and you can buy yourself fun things.

But seriously, I don't buy much for myself that I don't particularly need. So a jersey or two a year isn't that bad. And I don't rebuy the same jersey with a different player. I have one home, one away, one retro, etc.

I couldn't do what nocera does. I just don't like enough of the jerseys to even attempt it.

I guess because I don't wear them anymore and have nowhere to display them I've lost interest in collecting. I've always envisioned having a big closet in a game room with all of those jerseys in them, but instead they're folded up on the top shelf of my closet and only wear them to Pens games.

Having them put out these bad jerseys and then willing myself to buy them every time would be soul-sucking.

Same, actually. Mine are all hanging up in a spare closet, though I'd have loved to display them. I did wear them for open hockey back in the day, so half of them have scuffs on them from pucks, etc.

Depending on where we're going, I'll throw on a jersey if it's a game day. My wife gets pissed because nobody ever compliments her insanely expense bags or clothes, but without fail some dude will comment on my jersey, especially if it's an older one you don't see much.

Funny enough, I get the most comments on my $30 Charlie Conway jersey from China.

I ran the Lemieux 6.6k in an Andrew Ebbett practice jersey and drew some comments from that.

I get comments on my Khunhackle jersey every time I wear it.

The last time I bought a jersey was a Jarkko Ruutu jersey. People loved it. You would have thought I was Ruutu when I wore it out in public.

I did the same thing. I bought my place and pictured a wall of at least 10 framed jerseys. Until I hung up all of the other stuff and not making it looked cluttered, I only had room for two: one WC08 jersey signed by Sid, and a Vegas Gold away jersey signed by 66. The rest of the Penguins jerseys are on hangers in my closet in the home office. The non-Penguins jersey are in a sealed tote in my attic. I thought about clearing some of the jerseys out since I don't wear any of them, but to be honest I'm too lazy to list them.

But even with all of these releases of Stadium Series jerseys, retros, reverse retros, and whatever, I haven't given much of a thought about picking up a new jersey at all. The last new jersey that I bought was a black and gold Sid back in 2019 or 2020, and I barely wear it.

And if we're doing obscure jerseys that get comments, I always get at least one "where did you get that jersey?" from the Matt Murley gamer that I wear to the arena. I picked that up years ago and it was a fraction of the price of what a replica was going for at the time.

If you ever feel like listing them, post about them here as well. I have a few still that I'd like to get and I can't pass up a good deal. That's how I ended up with a Malkin 2017 Away Stanley Cup jersey with all the patches. Already had a Kessel away (without the patches) but that popped up on Reddit and I couldn't resist.
