Apparently Perron was hurt...*at the end of last season*

Postby Jim » Tue Sep 22, 2015 7:50 am

I know that there has been a lot of back and forth as to Perron's abilities and his time here last year. According to him, injuries did hamper his ability last year. He is better now... More natural on the left side...

However, he does also feel that it is all just talk... he will put up or shut up.

These guys aren't miraculous healers. They aren't completely recovered the instant the coach pencils their name into the lineup. The aftereffects of their injuries linger most of the season.
What drives me nut about boards like HF is the alleged experts act like this is a video game where some algorithm makes players ratings 100% after an injury. They bury good players that are struggling while playing hurt.
It is an immature unsophisticated view of sports in particular and life in general.

Yeah, HF boards seem like a constant disaster. I usually just go there for the LOL's.

Sorry for the confusion and fright...

I take it as he did not necessarily get hurt at the end of last season, just that previous injuries prevented proper training and he hit the wall come the end of the season. I did like his "but this is all talk" portion though.

I like Perron, he seems like a hard worker/good team guy so looking forward to seeing what he can provide this year.

that was the prevailing theory of why he looked so rotten.

the brain trust maybe should have thought about giving him a rest for the playoffs, since this appeared to start well before the season ended. though i suppose we would have been playing with 11F and 5D at that point.

It's an easy leap to make when the team and player is so hush-hush about injuries. "Lower body injury" and such.

Should have put Malkin on LTIR when they had a chance when he got hurt against Boston since they had enough games left to have it make a difference and then they could have used cap relief to call up half of WBS to field a roster and actually let some other guys like Perron rest. I hope mistakes like that are not made again ever in this franchise.

Meh. He's 27, a perennial 20-goal scorer, isn't afraid to get dirty, and is the best LW on the team. Let's use him like that and it'll be worth it.

I'm not sure the cluster that took place at the end of last season could have been anticipated or prevented without the aid of hindsight. If I remember correctly, there were a couple of "If only" situations regarding LTIR, including Ehrhoff and Letang's injuries falling to close to the end of the season?

Frankly I am glad to hear Perron was injured at the end of last year. It brings me hope for this season that he can be the player he looked like his first few weeks here.
