The race actually had 65 on-track overtakes for position. That's not just the most of any race so far in 2023, it is the most at this circuit in the turbo-hybrid V6 era. (Kinda makes you wonder why they put that poxy chicane in to begin with.) It helps that a small cluster of drivers started further down the field than they normally would, so you had faster cars coming forward. But even if you remove them from the equation, there were still around 50 on-track overatkes.

I'm not one who automatically equates overtaking with 'action' or entertainment, but this was a decently eventful Spanish GP. If only I had those drivers on my fantasy roster.

Well Aston turning into **** the last month isn't great, but luckily nobody picked the McLaren's to make a jump.

Three cars qualifying on the same tenth, okay let's see what we've got.....

Verstappen in the lead 200 yards off the line, wins by 30 seconds on cruise control. The official F1 highlight video followed him through T2 on the opening lap, and I don't think he made an appearance in the highlights again until last corner-last lap.

I passively had it on until he set fast lap by like a second and a half and then turned off and walked away.

I'm not sure the Astons have gotten worse. It may be the case that other teams like McLaren have more wherewithal to execute mid-season upgrades for their cars, so rather than Aston getting worse, it may be that others are just getting better.

If that's the case, then the Red Bulls certainly had pace in their back pocket that weren't showing early on.

Qualifying delta for Alonso to Max. They were much closer at Hungary, but after Monaco those four races were pretty abysmal. So even getting to early season form in Hungary 6 more cars fit in front of them, but the previous four races they were much further off RBR's pace than early in the season.
