Leddy touches the puck about as often as any player in the league it feels like. I always try to get him. Fowler may have more responsibility with Hampus Lindholm in limbo. I like Fowler, but he is better at ES than PP.

Some guys at work started a fantasy hockey league and invited me. These people have lived in the south their entire lives and have zero fantasy hockey experience. They know my hockey history and still invited/decided to make it a $50 league. So of course I obliged. The draft was last night. This will be the easiest $400 I've ever made.

You think? He's available. Drop Matthews over Abdelkader?

I mean, if you need "stupid" than Abdelkader is a keep...the last couple of years I drafted virtually unranked players named Tarasenko, Kucherov, Kuznetsov in like the 6th and 7th rounds and everyone always gave me the business about it...right up until they finished top 10 in scoring...I'm not saying Burakovsky is quite on that level, but I drafted him this year at a live draft and just heard a bunch of papers shuffling, so I'm assuming he isn't ranked very highly either...I definitely want to be in the Burakovsky-Kuznetsov duo business...

Abdelkader is safely droppable in that format. If you need a Red Wing, Tatar could be a player this year...

For anyone still drafting, Ondrej Palat is criminally under ranked by the major fantasy providers.

He is, but he is also 10x the actual player than the fantasy player.

The Marian Hossa dilemma

Yeah, I play in mostly hits leagues, so his value ticks up a bit there. But you are correct. He fits that profile of a "better RL player than fantasy player," which then seems to perpetuate itself, even if he's still a damn fine fantasy player. His even strength production is unquestionably elite. If he ever gets regular PP opportunity, he could easily find his way to 70 points.

That's correct. Palat is an assist-heavy winger that is excellent two-ways but really doesn't check enough boxes to even be a must-draft in shallow leagues...which sucks...Marian Hossa/Ryan Suter dilemma as meow stated...

It looks like he'll be on that top unit, but i could easily see drouin qbing it from the opposite side, so the pp points may not be great since stamkos seems to
Become the trigger man in the middle.

I drafted Drouin in my shallow league...in fact, I think my entire team is under 25...I'll have to check...

Thats the other problem with palat. Hes gonna be on a line with drouin even strength at least to start the season. Hes gonna be doing a lot of the setup on that line. Their lines look weird to me in camp. It will be interesting to see how they shake out here.

Were you surprised by the contract Killorn got? I actually like him, but with so many options it seemed like a surprising deal given their cap constraints.

Eh, I think a league where Palat can comfortably go undrafted is too shallow for my liking.

I feel the same way. I dont really know what to make of it. Next year looks like it is going to be tough for Yzerman.

I agree with you. I hate shallow leagues. But my friends hate playing in deep leagues against me...so I'm a 2/2/2/4/2 and 4 bench league... :face: Still it should be easy money...but bleh...

Shestyorkin is superb, but Russian goalies give me the willies.

Saros looks about 5'8" in the crease, but he is one of the best point to point movers I have ever seen. I agree with mikey that Rinne has a wall coming up soon. He's played a ton of high level hockey and despite him being a big guy, he relies on reactionary saves and does not use his size all that well. I would scoop Saros up if you can.

What about Jon Gilles? I believe Elliot is on the last year of his deal and Chad Johnson blows.

I have a pretty big man-crush on Mackenzie Blackwood. He is kind of a Matt Murray clone. Same size. Same demeanor. Same polish. Both read plays well.

Tampa has two tremendous AHL goalies in Gudlevskis and Wilcox.

Are any of these guys available or do I have to dive deeper into org charts?
Any feelings on Ville Husso? In the league I own Allen, would he be a better player to have because of the link with Allen over guys like Shesterkin or Sorokin?

Anything to see in Victor Rask? Never struck me as having much upside, but I guess he did have 48 points in his first full season last year. His usage has been great this year, and he's come out of the gate strong. There's not much more than a 60 point guy if everything breaks right, is there?

Selling high on Justin Schultz to get John Klingberg (full keep on both guys forever) is a no brainer, right?
