I got a car out of it as well as a few personal keepsakes*.

The creditors took the rest and they're welcome to it.

*When I was about eight years old, we visited Ansbach, (West) Germany. There was a firemans' parade that day. The firemen were marching through the streets, tossing out little rubber balls to the kids. One ball came to me, but it bounced off my hand. Before I could get it, some other kid came up and grabbed it. One of the firemen noticed this, broke ranks, and came and handed me a red rubber ball.

To my surprise, my mother still had that rubber ball. It's brittle now, but still reads "Ansbach Feuerwehr 1977."

I have it now.

Isn't that an adorable story?
