Non-Military Aviation

Yeah, it sucks that the people can't deplane while waiting, but if bad weather is hitting all of Dulles, JFK, and Boston (which relatively speaking aren't all that far apart), then I think the next-closest US airports with A380 gates would be Chicago and Atlanta, and the length of time one would spe...

On the few occasions when an A380 gets diverted to PIT, it's my understanding that they usually park it over by the general-aviation ramp. While PIT does have several widebody gates that could theoretically get at least one ramp up to the aircraft for very slow deplaning, the airport doesn't own the...

I read on here that the upcoming Mr. Rogers movie is based on a magazine article, and that magazine article describes an acceptance speech that Rogers gave when accepting a lifetime achievement award from The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. Here's the video: http://www.youtube.com/...

For $14 million per year, the team could tell me to wear my helmet on backwards.
My first thought was for 14 sheets, I’d play without a helmet
For $14 million per year, the Raiders could strap me around Antonio Brown's head so that I would be his helmet.

I really like the Sockeyes logo in Gaucho's post above, and especially the Native American styled fish. Then again, I was also a fan of the Coyote's original "kachina" logo. IMO, the current Coyote's logo could not possibly be more generic.

Yeah, I think she actually needs to move her dates a little later anyway because I think she might be forgetting that the Paralympics follow the Olympics, and I believe those games run through the first week of September. Although the Paralympics aren't going to generate nearly the same level of cro...

Thanks. It doesn't seem like there's all that much of a difference between the PMag generations.

Does anyone have a particularly strong opinion on Gen 2 versus Gen 3 PMags? The Gen 2s seem to be easier to find in bulk quantities.

It's a long way's off, and stuff could always change, but my SIL's mother has said that she wants to make another trip to Japan in 2020 in late August or early September, and I'm expressly invited to go along. So hopefully around this time next year I'll be getting ready to head off to Tokyo. I'm ho...

That's one reason I'm doubtful that Boeing will suffer any long-term fallout from the MAX debacle. A lot of people have said they wouldn't ever fly on a MAX, but my experience is also that a lot of people aren't able to tell you whether they were on an Airbus or a school bus. I once had a discussion...

Would it change your impression to learn that the fashion designer wants $1,890 per pair for the ugly-ass shoes in that photo? I personally kinda think he's deserving of a cease-and-desist (on behalf of humanity) just for that. ;)

It's a notion in self-defense that a person wielding knife has the advantage over someone with a holstered gun up to around 7 yards range. They can cover that ground in the time it takes the gun toter to recognize the threat, draw, present, and fire. So as weird as it might sound, I don't think it'...

Ah, I see. You can either have a "featured" build where you have to disassemble to drop a magazine, or a "featureless" build where you have a mag release but nothing else (pistol grip, etc.).

Nice looking rifle. :thumb:

I'm handling all of the flights for my parents and MIL for next year's vacation, and it looks like my MIL is going to luck out. The best option for her flight is actually on a 777 from DFW. Same goes for her return. I'm actually kinda jealous. Depends on the airline and what class she'd be flying. ...

Heavy east-coast thunderstorms have been causing a high number of diversions to PIT. In the last 24 hours or so, the airport has temporary accommodated a British Airways 747 from London and an Air France A380 from Paris, along with well over a dozen domestic flights that were headed to places like N...

The "California legal" ARs, IMO, are just awful looking. If you want a semi-auto, I think I'd just buy a Mini-14, which I think are still legal because never really had the "evil" features to begin with.

The goal posts, for me, haven’t changed. People seem concerned that someone is coming to take their guns. My response: no one is going to. Do you perceive any difference between these two policies? 1. The government outlaws firearms and goes door to door to confiscate guns. 2. The government makes ...
