You wouldn’t want people running out of your house shoeless during the winter in an emergency right? It's brand new carpet, and I aim to keep it as nice and clean as possible, for as long as possible. So, no shoes on the carpet. I don't think it's an odd request at all, and if it is, so be it. I ge...

It's not you, it's meI actually thought about posting an open invitation here but every person I've tried to interact with 'IRL' on this board has declined in one way or another so I figured I'll just accept the hint.

Exploding Binary Stars Will Light up the Sky in 2022 This reminds me; I was listening to NPR over the weekend, and one of the TED talks was regarding the new LSST telescope. They were saying they have found 45 or so supernovae over the past 3 years. With this new telescope, they will be able to fin...

I started watching Arrested Development, going all the way back to season 1. I watched a few episodes here and there when it was originally on the air, but I'm really looking forward to watching it all the way through. Glad you are giving this a new start. The last season is lacking, but there are ...

FOTC jokes aside, I would love to visit New Zealand. It's a major commitment though. Gotta go for at least two weeks.

Anyone here ever been to New Zealand...? What's its deal? Fake Australia? or improper-fraction version of Ireland...?
BEER
All hail the winter beer.
Speaking of, I had a bottle of Mad Elf on Thanksgiving. I will now seek this treasure for future winter consumption.

When was the last time DJ Gallo tweeted anything remotely funny? Has to be at least one lifetime. Maybe two. I remember thinking he was funny 7 or 8 years ago. I'm going to go with 12-15 years ago. Sportspickle was funny, then he started going down hill when he started writing little blurbs for ESPN.

I would prefer not to have a repeat of 2004, which this season is eerily shaping up to be.

I made the comment to my wife in the last episode that it was funny to see there was never anybody on the street in Hawkins. Only 5 or so families had any idea a smoke monster built its lair underground. Everybody else was too busy playing Commodore 64 apparently.

Well, if you were seeing him as Rudy, does it surprise you that a ND puffball would do such a thing? Seeing him as Samwise made it much worse for me. I kept thinking Bob was going to turn out to be a mad scientist or working with the smoke monster. To hear he was the founding member of the A/V club ...

493398 These kids aren't geeks. Dustin, especially. He would be the funny fat guy at the cool kids table. Being that Steve has taken Dustin under his wing, perhaps that is his story arc after all. I liked Season 2 as much as 1. Episode 7 was just misplaced IMO. If they had started out the season wi...

One cannot tune into a Christmas music station and not hear "Baby it's cold outside" within the first 1/2 hour. That song can also die a cruel death.

How many holes does a straw have?
My case for zero is as follows: The straw was made by injecting the polymer onto a rod that forms the shape of the straw. From inception the straw is a rod-like entity formed with that center void. Nothing was ever extracted, no polymer material was ever removed to make that empty space. A straw co...
