COVID-19

My wife is not happy with me. I told her there would be no kids, no grand or great grands kids in our house over Christmas. She said I am the biggest SCROOGE ever. She isn't talking to me. Looks like I will have to feed myself tonight. She also said I can't stop her from visiting them and delivering...

Yeah, essential workers should be up there, but I still think a 70+ person with pre-existing stuff whether sitting at home or a nursing home should get one before a 30 year old healthy plumber. Of course if I was a 30 year old plumber I would want one before some oldie. :)

I am pretty biased on the vaccine list by being just an old dadhole. IMO after the front line workers the next ones should go by age and pre-existing conditions. Occupations should have very little to do with it. And young healthy athletes should be at the very bottom, but they will probably be pret...

Wonder if professional and college athletes are high on the vaccine list? Very very important to keep money making sports going.

Speaking of shoveling/clearing... what's the strategy for a foot+ of snow? Wait til it's all down and then clear? Clear a few times? I'm planning on waiting until this evening to do any clearing. Hah, my stepdad would always be out there every hour on the hour. I am a procrastinator and would rathe...

Re: offsides ... Well then move.
I've lived in the same house for 44 years and am too old to move anywhere. I can't even imagine clearing all this junk i have accumulated over the years. My kids will have quite a time clearing this stuff.

Now it's slowing. Probably going to be a bust. Hope you don't mean missing a big snow is a bad thing. I don't care if it never snows again. Working from home has given me a new appreciation for these big ones I still don't get it. What is there to appreciate? I don't work from home or anywhere else...

Didn't I read that California passed a law that after the year 2025 no new gas powered cars are allowed to be sold? Seems pretty quick to me but guess they will find out. Betting they sell a lot of 2025 gas cars. 2035 OOps. thanks for setting me straight. That makes more sense and probably very doa...

In this old guys opinion electrics will definitely take over. They are already very powerful cars with low maintenance and will get better. The battery technology will get better and better. They will get cheaper with longer ranges, longer life and shorter charge times. Also many many more charging ...

Well I finally did it. I bought a new (to me) vehicle. 2018 ram 2500 cummins. Bit of an upgrade but I don't think I'm going back to work physically for a while and my brother bought a camper last year, so now I can tow it around for him (and use it :pop: ) Going to try and milk a couple hundred buc...

... its mostly rounds of chest tightness / shortness of breath mixed with nasty dizziness/nausea and tingly hands and feet. Never had a fever.
You will be fine, I have had the same symptoms for several years. But seriously, hope all works out well for you.

looking at the discussion here reminds me that I haven't fired up the miata in probably 3-4 months. Just threw a new battery in it over the summer too.
Battery in my Miata is 8 years old. Still works fine but I should probably replace it......SOON!

1,197 new cases in Allegheny today but only 779 from PCR tests. The rest were probable. Can someone explain what that means both by definition and practically? Is that misleading? Has there been more than 3 months pass to see if it extends longer? I feel like next month the headline will be for at least 4 months
Good point. Hopefully it can get up to 6 or 7 months, at least.

We’ve had a rise of “sick, waiting for test results” in our neighborhood. Close friends of ours decided to spend Thanksgiving with the anti-mask in-laws and now all 6 attendees appear to have it. Stupid games, stupid prizes.
Hope everyone recovers, but are they still close friends? :)

So, it looks like I should be in phase 1 for the vaccine. Sounds really good to me. I have another question. If I get both vaccines will I be able to stop wearing a mask? Will I get proof that I am immune and be able to get back to normal?
