Again, as I said, to grunts, it's contextual. I'm not commenting about the motion, it's an observation how the story has shifted over 2 years. "We didn't do it" is now "So what, if we did do it it's not illegal *thupupupup*", which is an odd turn to take. That's a comms strategy that is broader tha...

This is a novel theory. "Spending money is not a crime. Therefore, helping someone plan to knock over a grocery store is also not a crime." This is just the continuing 'evolution' in the story of the Trump-Russia nexus. First it was 'NO COLLUSION!'; then it was 'Yes, we met with a Russian attorney ...

It's not an admission. The Atlantic article says that the motion/brief in question was a motion to dismiss. For a motion to dismiss, every allegation in a plaintiff's complaint is assumed to be true, and the motion will argue that even if for the sake of argument everything the plaintiff claims is t...

RIP the 54 yokozuna, Wajima Hiroshi, at age 70 due to complications of throat cancer. Wajima was one of the rare sumo wrestlers who never adopted a shikona or ring name; Wajima was his actual family name. He was also the only yokozuna to graduate from college before turning pro. Active from the earl...

This is totally cool:

Not sure how much those go for new, but all of the used ones I see for sale (which all look to be great condition) are running somewhere around 50% of the assessed value of my house.

His 'YES' was never above around 40%. He was hovering around equal split for-against at that number, +/- a few points either way, with some percentage in the teens undecided. Then the accusations came out, and his performance art testimony happened and he ended up being something like 50-40 against...

I haven't been in a K-Mart in years. Do they have a frozen food section?
I don't think in regular ones, but there are Super K-Marts that have full grocery departments just like the super Walmarts.

Playing Devil's Advocate here... if we go with the premise that the US will be governed essentially as-is, and there will be decisions made that effect the rights the people... Why should the will of the minority outweigh the will of the majority, which is certainly possible with the way the Senate...

I heartily endorse any political system that screws over California. In fact, I would endorse amending the Constitution to eliminate California's senators entirely.

So I'm fairly certain I want to see what the sous vide craze is all about. Need recommendations on what appliance would be the best. It'll mainly be meals just for myself, but at times may need to feed multiple people. Thanks in advance. I'm very happy with the Joule. You'll need to provide your ow...

Delta's first Airbus A220 has started its test flights: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o-1bTb1UIcM Scheduled A220 flights are supposed to start Q1 2019. Delta supposedly will initially use the new A220s to replace Embraer 175s and Bombardier CRJ900s on the airline's longer-haul "long and thin" Delta...

Alton Brown's baked roux was a game changer for me when it came to gumbo. Baking it only gets you to "brick" coloration or so, but its soooo much easier than stovetop.

BEER

In honor of our new Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh, tonight, I’m drinking some beer.
:D :thumb:
I'm somewhat irritated that no one ever asked him what the beer of choice was. Of course, back in 1982 the selection would have been pretty limited.

I share your view of the foregone-conclusion doctrine. Allowing the government to basically say "we already know you're guilty" is highly problematic when the government does not know and cannot know the entire contents of the device in question. For example, let's say that not only is their child p...

My understanding is that she could still try for attempted rape which was a felony with no statute of limitations in 1982. She could, but the burden would be even higher. Sexual assault in Maryland includes touching someone else's private areas, so for example grabbing a woman's breasts would count...

The Superior Court opinion is here: https://law.justia.com/cases/pennsylvania/superior-court/2017/1243-mda-2016.html It looks like the trial court and Superior Court both held that the defendant could be compelled to provide the password largely on the "foregone conclusion" doctrine, which basically...

It was just granted, so I wouldn't expect briefing and argument to be finished earlier than, say, 90 to 120 days, and the decision would take probably another three or four months at least, and it could be longer. My guess is late summer to fall of 2019 for an opinion

Unless she's going to throw in a Shyamalan-type twist, it sure sounds like Collins is leading up to saying she's a yes vote.
