Being reported by a few sources that Kenny Pickett is starting Saturday night. So we have that going for us, which is nice.

The lack of forced turnovers by the defense is honestly kind of mystifying. They're tied for last in the NCAA FBS along with Purdue, Ohio, Kansas and UNLV with 2 turnovers forced (0 fumbles recovered, 2 INT). The good news here is that they're tied for 2nd in the NCAA FBS in sacks with 24 (along wit...

Everyone is injured. KSP, Jason Pinnock, Chase Pine, Elias Reynolds, Albert Tucker, A.J. Davis, Vincent Davis and Kyle Vreen. Btw... according to someone that I work with who is in the know, all except Kenneth were on some sort of internally handled suspension for the game. KSP was actually a littl...

A win is a win. If this is their annual crap-burger of a game, all the better because they still came away with a win. I can't say I'm entirely surprised at how they played, given not just the volume of key starters that would up sitting but also the fact that they were coming off of two pretty emot...

It's now a little more than 12 hours since I left the parking lot and I still cannot believe Pitt won that game. I'm going to try to rewatch it at some point (they're replaying it on Tuesday afternoon on one of the ESPN channels...I forget which), but here are some thoughts... 1. I was in the home s...

I can’t find the tweet right now but one of the media folks covering the game said Jimmy Morrissey told the following story post-game: During the timeout before the fourth down call, one of the officials came over to Pitt’s sideline to tell OC Mark Whipple to remember that it was fourth & 3 at the 4...

Heading to the game today so I'm glad it's not raining but given the opposition, I wouldn't have minded it being one of those crappy days when it was about 60 degrees and there was a constant rain falling. Pitt obviously has their work cut out for them but I'm at least comfortable with the fact that...

I bought NHL 20 because I'm a glutton for punishment. I've been enjoying playing online. It feels new and they made some adjustments that result in a much better experience. For example, it's actually possible to play defense in most situations. I've only had a handful of goals against that felt ch...

Something Mark Packer said last week on his Off Campus speaks to this. The problem with college football is that the money at the top end is really starting to skew things. You've got about 15 or maybe 20 programs that are able to throw obscene amounts of money at their football programs thanks to d...

These running backs suck. AJ Davis has 114 yards on 21 carries and one TD, which would be great if these were his one-game totals rather than his three-game totals. Sibley is allegedly one of the fastest straight-line runners on the team but he's done nothing with the opportunities he's been given....

Thoughts as I've finally started to calm down. 1. On the road in a hostile environment against a hated rival in what will be the final game of the rivalry for the foreseeable future and down one score and with the ball first and goal on the opponent's one yard line, every single player on that team ...

I've got nothing for this one. I know what I'm expecting today, so I'm hoping like hell that I'm pleasantly surprised about the time 4 pm rolls around today. No one's giving Pitt much of a chance, justifiably so. I do think that of the four games played, I think Pitt's defense is most equipped this ...

Discovered a pretty cool family/friend connection to Pitt women's volleyball last night that also made me feel really old. I was glancing at the roster and saw that Maddie Soboleski hails from NW PA. They have plenty of time to hire Josh Heupel away from UCF after this season or next and institute a complete program turnaround by the time Pitt travels there in 2021.Pitt could be Tennessee.

Long post incoming. Some thoughts... 1. Pickett was better. He finished 26 for 37 with 321 yards passing, with 1 TD and 0 INTs. There were a few bad reads here and there, but he looked noticeably better than last week. He spread the ball around to six different receivers and two backs. What I liked ...

As we're discussing some history of Pitt fandom stuff, here's mine. Full disclosure: I actually didn't like Pitt at first. At all. In fact, my intro to college football was at age 11 with the 1987 Fiesta Bowl - Miami vs. UPS - and I cheered for Penn State. DJ Dozier became an instant favorite of min...

Pro Football Focus tweeted out that on Saturday night, Keyshon Camp generated 6 QB pressures and 1 defensive stop in 19 snaps played. That's pretty ridiculous production, and it's going to sting even more if this ACL injury turns out to be true.

I don't think I'm saying that I want 8-10 wins every year, Benz called it out, that this is another coach in the long line of coaches that are just there, coaching to the middle of the pack. Narduzzi press conference is going on now and Camp is listed not just on the depth chart but also as a starter. This isn’t the first time they’ve listed injured players on the depth chart for an upcoming game so hopefully it’s nothing as bad as an ACL tear. Edit: Narduzzi said during the press confe...

More fantastic news. I don't think anything official has been said yet, but a guy on Panther Lair who is usually correct on these things just posted that Keyshon Camp is out for the year with a torn ACL. The same poster had the Weaver injury news before it broke so I'm inclined to believe him. I kno...

Oh, also, Rashad Wheeler was wearing #37 last night and was playing fullback. This wasn't just in jumbo/goalline sets; he was lead blocking and in on some pass protection. No idea whether this is permanent for this year.
