The difference is age? Both of the players could still play decent after their contracts. Malkin has not played a full season in a while so the third year might get ugly.

4x6 for Malkin is a must sign. Even though he is a bit older now, he can still drive a second line. We need a new 2C if we lose Malkin and that would probably put more pressure on the wingmen.
