Other than Ha Long bay, I really enjoyed going on a tour of the palaces in and around Hue. We did a guided motorbike tour and hit a bunch of palaces in the same day, while taking some shortcuts through rice fields and what not. This might not be so great during the rainy season. My wife also really ...

Steelers vs. Vikes 9/17/17 - Here We Go!

The offense was pretty lackluster but I thought the defense played really well. The pressure on the QB was fairly consistent. Yeah, I think Keenum actually did well to throw the ball away a couple and avoid the sack, something that Kizer wasn't doing last week. Without that, the Steelers could have...

So it looks like we will be spending Christmas 2017 in Vietnam. We haven't booked anything yet, but the tour company put together an itinerary that starts off with three days in Singapore (which I'm hoping to add another day to this); then we fly to Ha Noi for a few days; then down to Hue for a few...

I'll take the win, but this team is seriously underperforming.
I agree, but it is a step up from last week. The offense really only scored 14 last week.

I wished they wouldn't say Heath when James catches the ball.
I'm kind of torn on that. I think it's neat that Miller still has that legacy, but it does suck for James.

Less than 50 yards rushing for Bell, and not one reception.
It is weird to me that they aren't getting Bell involved more in the passing game. It seems like lots of forced passes to AB and not many other guys getting targeted.

I think the defense has looked pretty good, but the offense is still sluggish. I'm not exactly sure what's the issue, but it seems like some questionable play calls, some poor decisions/throws by Ben, and some dumb penalties.

Just echoing some earlier thoughts on Narcos...I'm 4 episodes into season 3, and it's fantastic. It actually might be my favorite season. None of the Cali guys individually are as interesting and menacing as Escobar, but I really like the dynamic between the leaders. It's also addition by subtractio...

WV would be Switzerland in Europe, it also has the "multiple culture" thing as well. The area of WV north of U.S. 50 and West of U.S. 119 (including the Northern Panhandle) is Western PA. The area of WV south of U.S. 50, north of I-64, and east of I-77 (including Monroe County and the Eastern Panha...

Yeah, I grudgingly give Lalas credit for that rant too. I think a lot of times, he tries to be edgy just for the sake of it, but this needed saying, and it seems like most US soccer journalists are still scared to be too critical of the team. Losing to traditional powers is understandable, as the US...

I'm ambivalent about the airport upgrades. I think it's a middle-of-the-road airport--plenty of nicer ones out there and plenty of worse ones. I figured that sprucing up the central concourse area was their big upgrade to make things a little more hip and modern, and I was fine with that. Of course,...

I think it's plausible that a black centrist like Booker or Harris would bring out enough black voters in Philly, Pittsburgh, Detroit, and Milwaukee to flip PA, MI, and WI. The biggest problem the Democratic Party faces right now is the ingrained image that it is nothing but 'coastal elites'. That'...

I liked Conner just for the reason that he was the cliched "change of pace" RB. I didn't realize Bell wasn't in and was surprised to see the RB get the handoff, immediately turn on the jets, and hit the hole at full speed. I could imagine that being effective when defenses are used to being careful ...

Maybe I'm being too optimistic, but it seems unlikely to me that Trump will win in 2020. I think there are multiple paths for the Democrats to nominate someone who would beat him (though, of course, one shouldn't underestimate the DNC's ability to screw things up). I think it's plausible that a blac...

Only saw highlights here, but listened to Sirius a bit. Bill and Tunch said it was apparent that Ben and Bell weren't on the same page. Despite having no impact in the first AB ended up with 186 yards. Best player on the field. I hope Watt is for real. He looked good in preseason and against the Br...

I just think you have to assume that logistically, the country is not able to physically expel all 11 million undocumented immigrants. DACA targets a subsection of that population that contains the best candidates for citizenship. I think the Dream Act was to do that, but the GOP wasn't interested ...

I went to a couple new seafood places downtown recently... The first was Pittsburgh Poke, which I really like. It's not exactly a cheap lunch place, as it's $10-12 for a poke bowl or burrito (with seaweed used instead of a tortilla for the wrapper), but it's super tasty and not that expensive for do...

This is the most wheeling and dealing I ever remember the Steelers doing. Any correlation to Dan Rooney's passing? I think there's a lot more movement in general with the late cuts I read it as they are going all in on Ben's potential final year. I think that has to be it. Though, I'm not sure that...

I'm still optimistic about the Haden signing, but I was reading that one of big analytic sites ranked him as the 88th best CB in the league last year. But he was also playing through groin injuries that were supposedly corrected this offseason.

So, yeah, I'm not sure quite what to think...

I see Trump as kind of a slow-moving Constitutional crisis in that some of his actions sure seem like they shouldn't be permissible (pardoning an old racist sheriff weeks after giving a quasi-defense of white nationalists, firing the FBI director who is investigating him, making money by renting out...

I've seen a couple articles on line making the case that Tyrion was hanging out in the hallway looking forlorn because he's in love with Dany. I never got that vibe on the show at all.

Well I think it was Tyrion who advised Dany to leave Darrio back in Mereen because it would be bad for her to have any type of relationship while she's campaigning. Jon and her could complicate things when it comes to decision making. My guess is Tyrion would advise against this, and that debate is...

Yeah, I thought that was a pretty strong episode. I'm so glad that Arya, Sansa, and Bran were playing the long game with Littlefinger. I also liked that Cersei and Euron really were engaged in a double-cross. At first, it seemed implausibly easy for the good guys. Of course, that makes the whole wig...
