Game 6 is on right now...Capitals/Islanders game 7 is the day before Canadiens/Senators game 6. The NHL still hasn't figured out this whole scheduling thing.

I mean, even Ovechkin has been nowhere in the series against an Isles team that isn't overly tidy defensively...this is the second series in a row where Stammer has been as good as he should be...

Looks like the cap might go down next year
You don't need quite so many draft picks if you're good at scouting...you're not good at scouting if you're using picks on Casey Pierro-Zabotel, Andy Bathgate, etc. and that's not hindsight drafting, that's at the time they were butt squad and they didn't get better...at least with guys like Veilleu...

Looks like the cap might go down next year
It's tough, the feeling around the league for the last several years is that you can't buy enough goals to make it worth it...you need entry-level goal-scorers, that's when they're scoring at 21, 22, 23...you're not getting those guys as free agents, and it's tough to trade for them, so it's really ...

I thought he played really well down the stretch for us...but in these playoffs - as he's been in previous playoffs with different teams, in different systems - he comes up way short...you'd think his style of play and his beard and all that, he'd be a playoff guy...but he's takin' off like a lead b...

Draft pick competnsation for Bylsma and Shero?
I don't believe that you can hold two contracts at once, so say the Bruins sign Ray Shero, that voids the Penguins contract effectively. Whether he would have to agree to mutually dissolve it or not I think is just a formality...

Non-Crazy and Good Read on Pens Woes
It's obviously not easy to reel back in a group from globetrotter hockey to this structured hockey that we play now...harder yet with the revolving door of injuries, and really transactions too (however necessary they may be)...he's done a very good job, he's very tactically sound, he has gotten a l...

Re: "currency protection" - Can yous just touch briefly and simply (if possible) on what you're talking about for the layman...? Draft pick competnsation for Bylsma and Shero?
Ray Shero and Boston may be a match...but I don't think the 3rd will come into play, or any compensation...these guys were terminated a year ago...ya know? When you say it out loud to yourself like that, it really just makes it seem unlikely...

Draft pick competnsation for Bylsma and Shero?
Well, the thing with terminated guys is that you want them off the books...you're not likely to hold them ransom for a draft pick...the team, AIUI, has to give up the pick...it's not a magical compensatory pick that just appears at the end of a round...

One thing we can kind of say now, whereas, we could not under Bylsma's globetrotter hockey is that these players like Sutter, Spaling, Scuderi, Goc, Dumoulin/Chorney, etc. these lower-end, but intelligent, though somewhat-vanilla players do have hope for success here...whether we like or not, is a ...
