Cars & Bikes, Driving & Riding

Good news: I finally found an alternator for the unexpected project car that I bought last year. Bad news: I wasn't expecting to pay almost $400 for it. At least it's a 95 amp with a warranty instead of the 35 and 45 amp alternators that were showing up. I also found a bunch that were a fraction of ...

Speaking of vintage record players, I just bought a 1948 Philco 1405 that has two arms, one for 33s and another for 78s. Never seen that before. My father in law is real into restoring vintage record players/radios (retired dudes, right?) so he’s currently fixing it up for us. Not my photos: https:...

Non-Penguins NHL Games 2023-24

ESPN was a missed layup away from starting a Game 7 on their app. That would have been something.
Still amazes me that they had those games running on top of each other and had a taped cornhole tournament running on espn2.

Blackjack's Thread of Illness and Ailments

The bromelain in pineapple juice may also thin mucus that causes congestion in the sinuses or chest. Together with its anti-inflammatory properties, pineapple juice may relieve symptoms of the common cold and allergies. These properties have led researchers to study its ability to treat asthma. Whi...

CAD & 3D Printing Thread

So the 28 hrs of printing was just like watching a Pens game this year: good to start, a few noticeable flaws halfway through, and an absolute failure for the last section. It’s like it got to the last section of the base and was like “eh, close enough.” I don’t know if maybe the printer I have isn’...

What infill pattern are you using? The default on most slicers is grid, which is trash, and can cause the hot end to scrape across the top. If your slicer has something like Adaptive Cubic, try that instead, and use no more than 15% infill. Way faster and stronger. It ended up printing in 8 hours, ...

Found a much taller Stanley Cup to print that needs to be printed in three sections. We are 100 minutes into printing the base and it is at 5%, which puts out ETA at sometime tomorrow evening.

But the base appears to be mostly hollow so maybe it won't be 35+ hrs to print.

I’m likely not the demographic but every schedule release social media post I’ve watched has come up well short in the satisfaction department. The Titans tried a reprise of last year’s, which was funny, and that fell on its face. The Steelers one wasn't bad but it wasn't anything I'd put in the "I...

for sit-down type of chain restaurants, there's a B-Dubs near my office that I used to frequent about twice a month prior to COVID. If I got there early enough, I could be there and back within the hour. But once COVID hit, it's been more of a once every few months thing. I think it may have to do w...

My sister was talking about that last night. Who even goes to Red Lobster anymore? I like cheddar biscuits as much as the next person, but I couldn't tell you the last time that I've been to one. Edit: I remember going to one while I was on a work trip in MI, which would have been between 2011 and ...
