I would like to bring Kessel back if all of these things are mostly fulfilled/satsified
1 - He takes close to league minimum
2 - He still has a high top speed
3 - He is aware that he can be a healthy scratch once in a while
These three things would make him as useful as a Heinen, I belive.

Hindsight is 20 20 and I would rather have had Forsberg than DP. But I don't think we would have won any cup anyway with Bylsma as coach.

Kasperi Kapanen re-signed - 2 year $3.2M
Hmm.. I like that we resigned Kapanen from an asset point of view, but I am not a fan of this contract. Two years at 3.2 and then he is a UFA... I think that could actually reduce his trade value. We probably need to show case him to sell him to someone. Otherwise, he would just be a throw-in in a t...

My boss wants me to start handing off responsibilities and direct reports now since they are stressed about me leaving for my maternity leave and don't want a hole in work they aren't prepared for.. I'm loving this. That was an excellent feeling for me when I went on parental leave. I could just sa...

Petry, Poehling to the Pens for Matheson and a pick
I would have been all over this trade before last season. Sullivan used Matheson really well, but perhaps it will be an improvement for Sullivan to not service Matheson's needs.

I agree with Shyster. I work at a university and have had the option to WFH. Generally, I prefer to take my bicycle 10 minutes to my office and work there. I have too many distractions at home, and at the university I have some lunch buddies.

Bringing back the same team that dominated the first round at a historic level (scoring chances for/against, medium/high danger shots for/against) against a team that got two games shy of the Final isn't a negative...sure, it could be...but the process: Hextall's, Sullivan's isn't currently broken....

It seems like we are bringing back the same team for another year. I am not sure that the team that got ejected in the first round can do it this year since the team is older. All signings are good in vacuums. Except maybe CDS. Jarry better stay healthy... We still have some cap room, I believe. Let...

Re: Mikey's Couture question in the Rakell thread: My preferences regarding forwards now would probably be (if the UFAs sign for a reasonable amount) 1 - Malkin. Probably the best 2C short term 2 - Trocheck 3 - Johnny hockey 4 - Giroux 5 - Couture + for Pettersson + The Couture contract will be bad ...

I am on record for suggesting that they should have sold him after about a month of him being a world beater

The difference is age? Both of the players could still play decent after their contracts. Malkin has not played a full season in a while so the third year might get ugly. Not really sure why they won't do 3x$7 considering they've thrown 6 years at both Rust and Rakell.

Yeah. Hextall is doing an excellent job. The players should also get cred since they sacrifice money to stay here.Locking up both Rust & Letang at a little over $11 million combined is nuts. NUTS.

4x6 for Malkin is a must sign. Even though he is a bit older now, he can still drive a second line. We need a new 2C if we lose Malkin and that would probably put more pressure on the wingmen.

Nice breakdown mikey. Send it to Dallas and Pittsburgh and start a new career;)
You have a lot of Russians in your list. It was not easy to foresee the extent of the current situation, but could some teams have stayed away from them due to the uncertainties regarding whether they would come over?

I would have preferred to put a little bit more money into a 1b option, or committed less money for a clear cut backup goalie.
