TV reports that 30 people dead at a Bastille day celibration in Nice. They were killed by a truck plowing into a crowd. Reportedly there was a shootout between the driver and police. Speculation is that it was a terrorist attack.

This is the 100th anniversary of the Eastern uprising (it happened on Easter Monday and Easter was in April that year). PBS had an interesting 3 part show about it and the subsequent rebellion that lasted several years. That was also followed by a long Irish civil war that I was unaware of.
