I'm not sure how that's a stronger group? Orpik played worse at the end of tenure with the Pens than he's playing now. Why do you think that is? Alzner? Orlov? Schmidt and Chorney? While the Pens need an upgrade on D, the Caps D is not exactly that strong when Orpik is in your #1 pair. The caps defe...

The Caps are a prime example of how this team should be coached. The Caps IMO are a very similar team aside from being a little more physical. Trotz has found a way to make his players committed to responsible hockey without stifling their scoring ability. we are nothing like the caps. I disagree.

The reality of the situation right now is this... -The Pens are having trouble scoring goals with Geno, Sid, Kessel, Hornqvist and Letang on their team -The Pens are NOT playing good defensive hockey, but are being stifled offensively by trying to. -The Pens are basically becoming a target for a fir...

Does Johnston not hold players accountable? Serious question. I've never seen Malkin play as hard in his own end as I've seen these past few games. I know that's just one example, but do you have examples where he doesn't hold players responsible? Malkin has been playing hard, but come on now, Malk...

They don't need someone who "let's them play." This team is loaded with pure offensive talents and there are coaches who can get their players to play responsible hockey without stifling the offense which is what is happening now.

When you have elite talent, you need a coach who has experience handling elite talent. Out of curiosity, anyone out there that's on the market you have in mind? I'm just wondering 1) who has had experience coaching the type of talent that's on this team? and 2) What exactly would they do differentl...

Hello? Anyone still on this bandwagon? Anyone? Yes, me. It'll take about 8 more years until he's off it for me. Having back to back rookie head coaches will be viewed as the obvious gaff through the lens of history. I'm not going to scream about it though. I'm still on this bandwagon as well and I'...

we're looking 10000x better than we did when we were 0-3. I don't know that I agree with that. Their goaltending is certainly helping with that appearance. If last night's game was any kind of litmus test it's showing not only how poor of a possession team(supposedly MJ's specialty) the Pens are, b...

I think they've played a very well-rounded organized team game. No shortage of effort.i don't know if i should be asking for more intensity so early in the year, but the team looks a bit better tonight --- outside of the 2 goals

Clendenning has been most impressive; maybe the Pens' best dman this game.

I'm half serious. I can see his potential, but I wonder if we really need Letang junior. Clearly it's highly unlikely they move him. I just personally would not be closed off to it. Do we need a Letang junior? Maybe not right now, but if they're smart with Pouliot's development and take it sl...

Maybe they can trade Pouliot for a defenseman. I'm not sure if you're being serious or not, but I don't think moving a Pouliot for a dman should be overlooked. There are some teams that are stacked defensively, but need help up front. Trading Pouliot softens the blow of one of those teams moving a ...

Salary cap info for the Pens: http://www.thehockeynews.com/salarycaps/Pittsburgh Nice find! It's pretty impressive that with all the moves JR has made that the Pens still have almost $2M free. Just imagine if they could move Scuderi!!! I usually check nhlnumbers.com and they show the Pens only with...

I will also add that it is unknown if he asked for a contract that the Pens couldn't afford and he is the odd man out due to being a UFA at years end. In which case that is understandable since it is a business. But wouldn't it make sense to put him in a position to succeed and rack up points playi...

If the Pens have any intentions of moving Perron, putting him on the fourth line is not the way to shop him regardless if it's the pre-season or regular season. I would not look deep into this at all.

No on Buff! He's a beast offensively, but lazy and slow in his own end. If the Pens are going to move some serious assets for a top dman, they can choose better targets.

I fully expect Sprong to be sent to juniors, Gonchar to be signed, Clendening and Dumoulin to be lost on waivers, and Scuderi to play top 4 minutes all season.
