Pure domination right now. If he continues at this pace it won't even matter if he cracks on Sunday.

How The Pens Got Here?
Then you also look at a team like Calgary, who lost their #1 norris-candidate Dman. That team is 3rd period magic this year.
On the other end of the spectrum, to me it's insane the Pens haven't won ONE game this year when trailing heading into the 3rd.

Man, the Despres/Lovejoy trade is just the gift that keeps on giving right now. Sure could use that extra cap space.

Well if you're going to operate in revisionist hypotheticals like that, then yeah, I suppose absolutely anything is possible.

I'm almost surprised one of the tanking teams didn't try to hire him this season, just to really ensure a Top-2 pick. Almost.

Kings could use some rest anyway. That's a lot of deep, grueling runs all close together.

Do any of the people who wanted Laviolette realize he was hired when the Pens were still playing? He was literally never an option.

How The Pens Got Here?
I tend to agree that the window is closed. The last gasp to fix this team and get a cup was Iginla/Morrow. That team had the veteran leadership, it had the playoff mentality, the goaltending just fell apart. Pair that with a highly disciplined/motivated Boston team and we all had that empty feeling...

The Pens' Management System
I guess we're pretty much at a stalemate then. I just really get the impression from those quotes that Rutherford was against that trade, and even if he said "no," it was a case of majority rules.

The Pens' Management System
I don't see a problem with having a group of high hockey intelligence people working together. What's the need to streamline it? My main concern is that most of the people calling the shots were also around for the Shero era, and I haven't really seen any evidence of the "pander shamelessly to tenu...

The Pens' Management System
Just wondering what everyone here thought about the way the Pens' management is set-up. We're all aware of the GM braintrust, but how much more is there to it? We know the Despres/Lovejoy trade was basically the doing of the Assistant/Associates based off JR's words: “We had a very, very long meetin...

Can't stand DK. Probably the biggest flip-flopper in all the Pens' hockey media. Most recent example was his constant lauding of the Despres for Lovejoy trade. Then, now that it's not working out, all of a sudden, "The Pens need to get younger!"

Kapanen to WBS
Being scared of burning a year doesn't make sense to me. The earlier you start someone's contract, the cheaper their next one will be, since they won't be as polished when they sign it. That's the overwhelming sentiment among most teams as well. I don't think Kapanen should see any NHL ice this Spr...

They'll probably package Bennett with Scuderi/Kunitz or something.Which is why they probably won't trade Scuderi. He has his warts, but you'd just have to trade another pick to get back to zero for his slot.

Crosby or Malkin, who would you keep?
Dejan is adamant that neither Crosby or Malkin will be traded. He said that in his article last night as well. He believes that as long as Lemieux and Burkle remain the owners, no one in the "core" (Crosby, Malkin, Fleury or Letang) will be traded. Is he on Maddens' show right now saying that? You ...

Probably Malkin. Higher cap hit by about a million (Sid's is still $8.7, Malkin sitting at $9.5), and you never know which Malkin you're going to get on any given night. Sometimes he's on, and sometimes you're wondering what he's doing. You typically know what you're getting with Sid. For much of t...

if they played for the Penguins even for just one game, you can't put them in your list. Try to keep it to 5 or less, because anymore and then you're just listing off players who aren't Flyers (the more you list, the less weight "favorite" carries"). All-time: Bure ( I used to model my play in ever...
