Craig F Adams Appreciation Thread

Yeah, he clearly stayed past the point of usefulness, but he was a good 4th-liner for at least a couple years with the Pens. I also think that it's important to note that effort was never an issue with him. He gave everything he had; what he had just wasn't that much. I'm glad he won't be on the ice...

Listened to Madden talking to Bob Grove on the way home, and Grove said he didn't think the Pens were going to bring back any of their UFAs. I don't know how informed of an opinion that is, but that would surprise a bit if they didn't/couldn't sign any of them.

A little late to the conversation, but I agree on this week's Mad Men being the best of the season. It finally started to feel like a final season. Also... I enjoyed that they'e getting kicked out of the Time Life building. The name might have been a little on-the-nose if they just mentioned it, but...

I really never understood the point of movie reviews. I have my own opinions, I don't care what someone else thinks about a movie. This isn't like buying a vacuum cleaner or lawn mower - movies are subjective. What someone else thinks about a movie has no bearing on whether or not I'll enjoy it. I ...

At the end of last season, was it under team directive or did Fleury himself set his off season goals to improve his play? It was great to see the positive impact of proper motivation used for the off season once the bumps and bruises heal. Maybe Bennett should be issued the same challenge. I was t...

Went to a Riverhounds game for the first time this past weekend. It was better than I expected it to be. The atmosphere was pretty good -- there was even a group of fans with drums and banners and chants/songs going throughout the game to give it that authentic feel. :P There was also some quality ...

I'd potentially be open to bringing Ehrhoff back. If the Pens can dump Scuderi, they'd have (not worrying too much about who's paired with whom): Maatta-Letang XXX-Cole Pouliot-Lovejoy Dumoulin I have XXX in there because I don't you want to count on any of those other 3 to be top-4. Plus, Maatta an...

Season 2 > Season 1 > Season 3 Definitely agree. The first half of season 1 was shaky, but the second half was very good. Pretty much the whole of season 2 was very good, and now 3 is kind of a mess. I'd like to be optimistic about season 4, but I worry that the creators are just pulled in so many ...

Is anyone still watching Arrow? I caught up on the last couple episodes last night, and boy, this season makes no sense at all. It really feels more like a non-sensical, teen/20-something soap opera at this point that just happens to have superheroes in it (i.e. what one would expect of a CW comic b...

Don't want to jinx it, but Montreal are up 1-0 on the road against Club America (the Mexican champs) in the 1st leg of the CONCACAF Champs League final. If they can hold on tonight and in the 2nd leg, they'll be the 1st MLS team to win. Not that I like Montreal in particular, but I root for any MLS...

From what I understand, NHL ratings are solidly behind EPL ratings on NBC now. Wow, in the United States? That is an absolutely damning statistic if true. Yeah, Madden mentioned this a couple months ago in one of his rants about the style of play being encouraged in the NHL. I didn't believe it and...

When's the contract with NBC up? From what I understand, NHL ratings are solidly behind EPL ratings on NBC now. One would think that when the time comes to re-up, the new TV contract might not be so lucrative. That might get the league's attention concerning the aesthetic appeal of the game.

I've said this before, but my plan as GM would be to just accept that the next 2-3 years are a re-tooling period. Don't make any big splashes in free agency (not that there's anybody really appealing to sign anyhow); don't trade any high picks; unload the contracts of underperforming veterans where...

Maybe I'm more pessimistic because I missed game 2 and only saw 1 and 3, but I don't see how the Pens win this series. It's not even really an effort issue--they're just not good enough right now. The way the game is being called negates any advantage the Pens might have with an elite player like Cr...

Scuderi's fine if he stays in a bottom 2 role. He's very valuable in a top tier PK, he just gets exposed if he plays big minutes at even strength I agree. I just don't know if the Pens can afford to pay that much for a bottom-pairing, PK specialist given their other deficiencies. But yeah, he's had...
