Molinari mentioned Ron Hextall is available....hmmm not sure I’d want that. Like hockey’s version of the Manchurian Candidate.

Anything by Hornfischer is an excellent start to US Naval history. Last Stand of the Tin Can Sailors is superb.

God bless people who want to work into their 70s (if Rutherford does work again in the league). I barely have any interest in working in my 40s.

This was from last year, but still interesting. I don't remember it being posted here, but it's been a long year: https://www.usnews.com/news/best-states/pennsylvania/articles/2020-04-11/pennsylvania-faces-new-wave-of-abandoned-oil-and-gas-wells Ten thousand acres of Pennsylvania’s only national for...

Wild Blue is the one he got called out for plagiarizing, fwiw.

Masters of the Air is really well written, and the basis for the Spielberg/Hanks miniseries coming out eventually.

The Sledge book is exceptional. Glad you're reading it. Any recommendations for other WWII books like that? I really enjoy reading these. I really enjoyed William Manchester's Goodbye Darkness. He was a Pacific veteran (and historian) that fought in many of the same battles as Sledge. He goes back ...

Yeah, the fight for the main islands would have been brutal. Casualty estimates were north of 1 million for the US, who knows how many for the Japanese. Every civilian was being trained to repulse attackers using whatever weapons were handy. Scary.

I wonder how this would affect Federal Work study jobs, considering some of my staff shamefully get paid $10-12 an hour. So a work study student will get paid the same as some of my staff? That'll go over well. The amount of bullshit I have to listen to - and can't do anything about - because ...

This wage increase is for federal employees only, no? I thought it was to increase the mandatory minimum wage for all employees in the US. States can have higher minimum wages but they have to be at least hte federal level they should make it the minimum for waiters/bartenders too and get rid of ti...

Yeah, I watch a good bit of D1 baseball as well. Usually go to Clemson for a few games each year as well. But nothing beats five games in three days for D2 teams. And usually there's a similar softball schedule going on across the parking lot lol. (Our softball teams are usually better than our base...

Baseball, at the MLB level, needs some serious help. I love watching college baseball, especially at my school. Two games in four hours. No long breaks between innings, few shenanigans, decent baseball. In fact, we start in about three weeks...I think with fans.

I'd like a shorter election cycle, for POTUS. I mean two years plus is absurd.

And House seats probably need to be 3 year terms, unless there is substantial campaign finance reform (or shorter election periods). Like others have said, they spend a lot of time fundraising during their two year terms.

It happens everywhere there is a fanbase and talk radio. It happened last year in Charlotte with Cam Newton, and I don't think the Panthers fanbase is half as rabid as the Steelers. I mean we all know this, but the Steelers fan base is something else. First day back to hybrid in person for my kids, ...
