Pittsburgh Sports Media Thread

Who is watching Sportscenter all day?
When I was a kid and it was Rich Eisen and Stuart Scott, I'd watch the same replay over and over all morning.

I asked her about vents, since it seems like that’s the big story here. The news almost makes it sound like if you go on a vent, you’re as good as dead right now. I’d like to see a breakdown on everyone who went on a vent. This is wildly incorrect. There have been many patients on 1+ week of mechan...

That's bonkers. National average is around 10%, I think. This is pretty accurate. I’ve seen numbers fluctuating between 8-12% but 10% is the mode it seems. Regarding h1n1 - we saw a number of younger people very sick - on ECMO in ICUs. Many of the elderly had built immunity based on prior infection...

I have a feeling once people start seeing the numbers go down, there is going to be an immediate call to end the stay at home orders. That would be the absolute wrong call.

It's the same for every death at the moment. A guy I went to school with died unexpectedly and unrelated to COVID. I wasn't close with him but I'm friends with those who were. His family can't even have a funeral for him right now. a buddy of mine's uncle died of covid in washington state. they did...

Dear goodness. This Stay-at-home order for Virginia is until June 10th. June 10th. https://twitter.com/nbcwashington/status/1244686104755941377 This should is the way it should be. Instead of extending it, extending it, extending it. Just push that baby way out there, then you can pull back if need...

It does seem like social distancing is starting to "flatten the curve" here. At least in the places that don't have spiraling community spread. I'm still wondering when these measures can be lifted. if i look at the graphs that were posted last page, the reason our curve has flattened is because it...

I think that makes sense. Not totally sure where the 1/2 of icu admissions need vents though. The mode of treatment right now in ICU patients is to intubate as quickly as possible. So I think if you are sick enough to need an icu bed, you are very likely to be sick enough to need a vent this is acc...

COVID update - patients are very sick. Surprised how sick. Flu continues to be very bad. health care worker transmission low - everyone is being safe with PPE. Everyone mostly calm. Impressive humans to want to volunteer to subject themselves and their families to this. Stay home.
