Something everyone is signing or your raise gets withheld... My company has a lot of bad (and well-earned) reviews on Glassdoor and stuff. So, rather than try to make it a better place to work...they just make you sign a document that says that you won't write something negative. I imagine that aft...

What is the basis for the 'historical analogical inquiry' in Bruen ? Are you asking where the SCTOUS came up with that test? I would imagine the same place they came up with strict scrutiny, intermediate scrutiny, and rational-basis review, i.e., they made it up.* The constitution doesn't say anyth...

I think they are being called "civil" here because they do not require a criminal conviction for issuance. Is there a difference between a civil and criminal restraining order?

Today the Fifth Circuit held that 18 U.S.C. § 922(g)(8)—which bars people subject to domestic violence restraining orders from owning or possessing firearms—is unconstitutional under the Second Amendment.

Okay. Again, the post I was responding to was conflating factual history with crt. Crt should not be discussed below university level courses. The important item here being “theory”, critical thinking and theory is not really what we’d expect from standard secondary ed history stuff. I mean, again,...

Andretti-Cadillac makes a little more sense now that it's been announced that Ford will be coughing up the dough to put its name on Red Bull's engines.

Thats just history. Problem you are talking about here are bad actors demonizing the term CRT and confusing it with things they don’t like being told about. CRT should be demonized because it's racist garbage. But CRT is absolutely not the teaching of accurate history. CRT is the neo-Marxist concep...

I'll never forget in like 6th grade, a kid refused to say the pledge of allegiance and our shop teacher who was a vietnam vet came in and absolutely berated him for 5-10 minutes while everyone watched. Everyone was terrified of that guy going forward. That teacher was an dadhole who should have bee...

Virtue signaling
Sure is. Schools should all drop the Pledge of Allegiance, and I see no reason for the National Anthem at sporting events. The widespread use of both has a lot to do with anti-communist virtue signaling during the Cold War.

In terms of percentage of action, my favorite sport of sumo would probably be the worst. In the top two "professional" divisions, the prematch rituals last about 5 minutes or so (they're streamlined and much shorter for the wrestlers in lower divisions). The matches often last less than 5 seconds.

As much as I would hate to see it, I think Madden has a point. Guentzel is 28. His career isn't going to last long enough to carry over to the next period where the Pens might actually be playoff-competitive (and we all know they are not), so trading him now would at least bring picks that could be ...

Rolls-Royce has a new CEO, and he's painting a rather dire picture of the company's engine business, calling it a "burning platform." Problems at RR would be a far bigger problem for Airbus than for Boeing. RR is only one of two engine suppliers for the 787 (GE being the other), and no other new Boe...

Oh FFS. None of those artists produced R&R. Look, I love Willie Nelson, but he didn't make rock songs. Missy Elliot is an R&B artist, and George Michael was a pop singer.
