I finished up Insomnia: The Ark. I really wanted to be able to recommend this game. I like the graphics and gameplay, and the setting of the game (a run-down interstellar generation ship) and the art style are both great. It plays as a third-person RPG like the Witcher, and the art style is reminisc...

There's a reason the first foreigner to win a sumo tournament, the first foreigner to make the rank of ōzeki, and the first foreigner to make the rank of yokozuna were all Hawaiian.

Teacher fired for refusing to use transgender student's pronouns There's a really interesting lawsuit there, if the teacher were to pursue it. There is a significant constitutional question on the intersection of pronoun mandates and the compelled-speech doctrine of the First Amendment. It's not ev...

I thought you were the mechanical keyboard guy? I was searching old posts for a rec on one because all the ones on Amazon seem to be for LEET gamers and I just want something sturdy that won't fall apart after a year. I use a full-size Unicomp Classic keyboard (http://www.pckeyboard.com/) in the 10...

The new "value oriented" rifles like the Savage Axis, Ruger American, TC Compass, etc. might not be as fancy as more traditional rifles, but every review I've ever read of those guns has found them to be plenty accurate. And at their prices it wouldn't hurt that much if you accidentally drop it in a...

The below article says that the corrosion on the blade basically had coating over it, which means that it was present at the 2011 overhaul but was not properly remedied. Instead, it looks like the maintenance company just coated over it. Investigators studying the plane wreckage found not only corro...

I think I got glasses in either first or second grade. I've only ever worn glasses; I've never been fitted for contacts. I don't like the idea of jamming pieces of plastic into my eye.

Gold and fake woodgrain were darn near the official colors of the 70s. It just needs an avocado-green interior (with vinyl seats and shag carpet) to top off the look.

Successful launch of the Dragon vehicle to the ISS. The first stage recovery went awry. According to Elon, the hydraulic pump for the grid fins got stuck, which left the first stage spinning. Despite the pump failure, the stage managed to execute a soft landing in the water. For RTLS landings, the s...

Turns out the moldy food bars were not human food, but rather food for mice that are on the ISS for experiments. This is the first time I'm aware of that a space launch was delayed for moldy pet food.

They're called tegata . After making the hand prints, the wrestler will go back over the print and sign his name, so it also ends up being an autograph too. They're basically the sumo equivalent of a baseball card. One can either buy mass-produced ones or original hand-stamped ones like in those ima...

I only had a drunk encounter once at a Pens game, and that was back in the Civic Arena days. The guy who had the four seats to my right brought what I think was a business guest to a game, and that guy was absolutely hammered. As a fat guy myself, I try to be sensitive to the concerns of other fatties, but if you are so morbidly obese that your top walking speed can charitably be described as a brisk shuffle, you might want to reconsider that plan to jaywalk across a busy four-lane street.

Nice tracking-camera shots of the core landing. For this launch, the core was perfectly capable of doing a RTLS landing, but doing so would have required the core flying near to Vandenberg SLC-6, which currently has a Delta IV Heavy sitting on it in preparation for a December 7 launch of a billion-d...

this sounds close to my situation. Door opener is about 10-15 years old. I had an incandescent in there, and it vibrates them to the point where I'm swapping bulbs 2-3x a year. Tried to go with an LED bulb since I was tired of walking in the dark and it was all I had on my shelf. Missed this post e...
